Poodle-Specific Books:

The Complete Poodle by Del Dahl.
A comprehensive and excellent resource.  This book is now out of print and is becoming difficult to find.  Previously available in both hardback and paperback, we suggest you snap up whichever version is currently available.  Click here for availability of copies.

Poodle Clipping and Grooming: The International Reference by Shirlee Kalstone and Larry Kalstone.
This is the latest version of the essential reference guide used by more owners, breeders and groomers than any other.  Simple, clear instructions and wonderfully illustrative photographs make this book a must-have for anyone serious about clipping and grooming their own poodle.  The author takes the mystery out of the art and makes it possible for anyone to produce a professional result.

Poodle Owners Medical Manual by Robert Brown.
This is the best book we've found on caring for your poodle's health.  Clear, concise and comprehensive, it teaches both new poodle owners and veterans alike to how to identify, treat and avoid medical conditions ranging from the most common to some of the most rare.  No poodle owner or breeder should be without it.

Poodles: Everything About Purchase, Care, Nutrition, Breeding, Behavior, and Training by Joe Stahlkuppe .
This simple little paperback is a complete pet owners manual and a wonderful introduction to poodles for the new owner.  We recommend that breeders provide a copy with each puppy they sell.  Pays for itself in happy, informed clients.

How to Train Your Poodle by Liz Palika.

Just for Fun...

Fifty Acres and a Poodle: A Story of Love, Livestock, and Finding Myself on a Farm by Jeanne Marie Laskas.

Videos

Here are a selection of some of our favorite videos.  From grooming to training to just plain fun, there's something here for everyone.

Doggie Cuts (VHS).
Although not specifically for poodles, this is an easy-to-follow and entertaining instructional video for dog owners who want to learn how to safely cut and groom their own dog's hair at home in order to save  valuable time and money.  The Master Dog Groomer featured in the video provides simple, personalized, expert instruction demonstrating all basic cuts that can be applied to virtually any purebred or mixed breed dog.  It also includes a comprehensive health care program to help you maintain your dog's good health. Topics discussed and demonstrated include: proper bathing procedures, trimming the nails, brushing your dog's teeth, checking their skin and ears, proper nutrition, and much more!

Woof! Woof!! - Uncle Matty's Guide to Dog Training  (VHS)
You've gotta love a guy who can talk baby-talk to a dog, keep a straight face and get geat results.  Host Matthew Margolies addresses a serious subject like dog training with humor and firm kindness.  His good-natured ways and proven techniques are truly enjoyable to watch and highly effective to apply.  We loved him on PBS.  You'll love him on this tape.
